Friends of the Mt. Vernon Cemetery
Thank you for your interest in Mount Vernon Cemetery. We are dedicated to promoting and preserving Mount Vernon Cemetery’s natural beauty and history. That is why Friends of Mount Vernon Cemetery, a non-profit group dedicated to these principles, was formed. This group will assist the Board of Directors and the cemetery staff in the preservation and exploitation of our beauty and history.
Our Purpose
Friends of Mount Vernon Cemetery was organized to carry out projects at Mount Vernon Cemetery that will enhance the beauty of the Cemetery through protecting, conserving and cultivating the flora and fauna in the Cemetery. Other projects will preserve the historical and architectural aspects of the Cemetery.
The projects will be aimed at maintaining and enhancing the beauty and serenity that visitors and Loved Ones have enjoyed for years.
The Fall of 2012 will see us working to rehabilitate the War Memorial Area around our flagpole. To date we have had the flagpole and canon painted. We will be straightening the Veterans’ markers and enhancing the plantings. We are currently doing research on the Veterans buried in this area.
Tax deducible Donations can be made to the Friends of Mt. Vernon Cemetery by sending donations to the cemetery address, to the attention of the Friends of Mt Vernon. The funds will be used for our current project.
Thank you for your continuing support.
